“For me, it would be more the question why wouldn’t I - when I can, and when it helps my community in a truly hope filled way. Years ago, I heard the inspirational quote from Mary Oliver that says “what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life”… when I heard that statement, it had me thinking exactly that… what will I choose to do with this one life I have. When it came to it, I reduced it to wanting to be known for being consistent, for choosing to make wonderful memories and for loving with all that I am able. This thought direction has lead me to my life’s work of wanting to support people to see hope, purpose and future. This very heartbeat of my life matches perfectly with the vision of Jude’s and I’m excited to partner together in this “village” for our community”.

We choose to give to Jude’s Village because we love their heart for change, and we want to play our part. As someone who works in the Disability sector, I am blown away by the generosity of Jude’s in offering opportunities to my students, and it is so beautiful seeing them grow in their skills, independence and JOY! Jude’s are making dreams come true over here!

Our home and my heart is full of teenagers and it saddens me to know that there are too many youth in our community who do not have a caring, safe and supportive home or family, which can greatly affect their mental health and wellbeing. After being privileged to see the impact that Judes is having on the lives of young people in our community I decided that I would love to be part of Judes Village in a concrete way, to assist them to continue the much valued and necessary work they do with the youth in our community.

From the moment that we heard of what Judes Café would stand for and who they would impact, there was no hesitation that we wanted to be a part of that story. We have witnessed first hand the impact that community, support and love has on young people, especially those who may be seen as disadvantaged in any way. The team at Judes see past all of that and bring the human into the story, the person behind the circumstances, love them and bring them out so they can live to the potential that is within. We feel incredibly blessed that we can contribute in some way to help happen and we encourage everyone to do the same.

I have chosen to financially support Judes Village at the Tailrace Centre in Riverside Tasmania. When asked why this was my answer. On many occasions during my time on this planet I have lived with a financial battle, often fearful and anxious, it’s a terrible feeling. So when the seasons are plentiful I choose to help others, because in the past I have been helped so many times myself . I choose organizations that I personally know the people involved. I don’t want my donations to be swallowed up with admin costs and hierarchy payments and executives. I want my money to go to those who genuinely need it, I know without a doubt Sharon and Tim who own and run the Tailrace Centre where Judes village operate from gives every cent plus some to their charity operations.I hope my donation makes a difference to some ones day.
