My life was a mess… But I never gave up. I was determined to change my life and that finally became possible when I was given an amazing opportunity to become an employee at the Tailrace Centre. I found people actually cared deeply for me and I found an amazing community to support me through my recovery. Working here, I learnt new skills which gave me confidence. For the first time I had a healthy routine which gave my life structure and helped me feel like I belonged somewhere. I became proud of my life. Working at Tailrace and Jude’s gave me the tools to reshape my personal life. Looking in the mirror I now see a completely different person. I have overcome things I never thought possible, my mind set is completely changed, and I’m proud of the person I am today. Maybe my life wouldn’t have turned out the way it did if there had been a Jude’s when I was a young girl. I don’t want to see any young person make the same mistakes I did.  Setting  a good example for our next generation is important to me. I want to help show young people that life doesn’t always have to be hard.
