Hi Jude!
Last week we held a girls retreat.
Taliah, Catherine and four teenagers went away for two glorious (and stretching) nights.
I am so proud of our team. The way that they continually make space in their lives to be a person of peace to others in distress is amazing. So many youth have so much anxiousness. There are so many reasons to feel bruised by life. The way our team shows up and create spaces of peace is amazing to watch.
About the camp itself, Taliah wrote the following:
We had a great time, but there were certainly parts of this camp that felt hard and messy. From the first morning – before camp had even officially started, the plan changed. And it continued to change the entire time.
But what we found was that the girls on this camp had much higher relational needs. With lots of different things going on at home for each of them, they needed to be reminded that they are seen, heard and unconditionally loved. They needed to know that there are people and spaces where they can have real conversations.
Presence beats plans every time! I am thankful that 3 days filled with of beach trips, mini golf, movies and snacks can subtly change a life.
To our village – thank you for creating such impactful spaces.
